connectivity / solitude
Hello, I think it might not necessarily be true that there is no solitude in network culture. That is because network connectivity is a different social relation than social bond / group / community. It is very possible to be a solitary network node. It would be useful to distinguish solitude as an emotional / personal state from solitude as a specific network position (no connections); as well as looking at new forms of social relations (for instance with objects, Karen Knorr Cetina wrote about this). Oh, and there seems no way to be non-anonymous with your web form.
look for the upcoming chapter on subjectivity.
Hi anonymous.
I've fixed the comment form so in the future you can leave your name. Apologies about that.
I agree that these are different positions, but is it possible to be a solitary node and be part of the network?
I plan to elaborate on these concepts in the chapter on subjectivity and I will check out Karen Knorr Cetina's writing, thanks for the tip.
